The Woman in the Window (2021)

Based on the 2018 novel of the same name, The Woman in the Window (2021) dares to ask the question, what if there was a woman in the window? Amy Adams stars as Anna, an agoraphobic psychologist who befriends a nice woman named Jane (Julianne Moore) who has recently moved next door to Anna with her husband Alistair (Gary Oldman). One night while spying on the couple, Anna thinks she sees Jane being stabbed to death and calls the police. When they arrive, Alistair denies that anything happened but Anna presses them to go inside and find out what happened to Jane. That's when a woman calling herself Jane (Jennifer Jason Leigh) appears completely unharmed and the police leave. What happened to the real Jane? Was there ever a real Jane? Is Anna completely losing touch with reality thanks to her condition or is there something more nefarious going on? Couple all of this with Anna's ongoing custody battle with her ex-partner Ed (Anthony Mackie) and her increasingly desperate measures being taken to regain custody of her nine year old daughter, and you've got the makings of a Hitchcockian thriller! It's a real shame that your little Hitchcock is going to leave The Woman in the Window feeling left out because there's no nudity to speak of in this thing! Amy Adams does strip down to her bra and underwear in one scene, but that's about the extent of it! We love Amy, but we'd rather spend our time watching a movie where she shows some more skin than checking out this woman in the window!
