The Wheel of Time (2021-2023)

Fantasy author Robert Jordan penned fourteen novels beginning in 1984 that make up The Wheel of Time series, which was brought to life by Amazon Prime in the fall of 2021! In a post Game of Thrones landscape, Amazon is attempting to capitalize on the fantasy craze sweeping the nation with its own flagship fantasy series. Rosamund Pike stars as Moiraine Damored, one of a powerful group of women known as the Aes Sedai who can use magic while the rest of the unnamed world on which the series is set cannot. The show's first season starts with a focus on Moiraine taking a group of five young adults on a journey to discover if one of them might be the reincarnation of a long deceased dragon who is prophesied to come to power and either save the world or destroy it. She and her sisters in this organization rounded up these youngsters at the end of a great war, rescuing them before an evil group known as The Shadow could get to them, and it is now Moiraine's duty to help nurture the chosen one towards a path of salvation rather than destruction. Game of Thrones set an undeniably high bar in the realm of hyper sexualized fantasy worlds, so it won't be easy for The Wheel of Time to raise that bar. The debut episode finds series star Rosamund Pike nude in a bathtub, but sadly she's almost entirely submerged, meaning we can't see a thing! Hopefully The Wheel of Time can get in gear so we can fast forward to the good parts!
