Review

Written and directed by the music mogul’s son, this biopic is the rags-to-riches story of Neil Bogart, the founder of Casablanca Records. Never heard of it? Well that’s probably because of its epically short run as one of the most successful labels of the mid-to-late 70s, all due to Bogart. He brought the company to new heights with discoveries of smash hit artists of the decade like KISS, The Village People, Parliament, and Donna Summer, and and dragged it crashing down thanks to drugs, bad marketing decisions, and the death of disco. Played by Broadway star Jeremy Jordan, and as with most success stories, Bogart eventually leaves his devoted first wife (Michelle Monaghan) for KISS co-manager Joyce Biawitz (Lyndsy Fonseca). We see a scantily clad Lyndsy making out with him both in private and at a party scene peppered with some topless babes. Disco may be dead but the party in your pants will be alive and well!
