Promising Young Woman (2020)

The MeToo era has ushered in a new fear among men, not only that their past behavior may come back to haunt them, but that behavior they had previously viewed as innocent will now make them targets of women looking to turn the tables on predator behavior. The Oscar-nominated film Promising Young Woman (2020) not only plays on such fears, it serves as a way of showing men that so long as their behavior is innocent, they have nothing to worry about. Following the assault and eventual suicide of her best friend, Cassandra (Carey Mulligan) has seemingly put her own life on hold to live a vigilante's life. She identifies male predators, pretends to be intoxicated around them, and waits for them to either do the right thing and send her home, or more often, bring her back to their own place where they can take full advantage of what they think is a woman in a compromised state. In the event the man enacts that second plan, Cassie then drops the act and flips the script on these opportunists. Everyone else Cassie's life thinks of her in terms of the title, as a young woman once filled with so much promise and potential, who has seemingly squandered it in search of revenge. Of course, in Cassie's chosen line of work, there are many hazards, including the utter secrecy with which she must operate, but the further down the rabbit hole she goes, the more dangerous her work becomes! Carey Mulligan doesn't doff her duds in this flick as she has in the past, but she shows off lots of leg and super sexy cleavage in her various party girl disguises!
