1998 was a big year for Adam Sandler. He put out his first crowd pleasing duet with Drew Barrymore, The Wedding Singer (1998), as well as a frat pleasing college football comedy that fans would be quoting for years to come, The Waterboy (1998). It’s not a Saturday Night Live movie as such, but the character does bear a resemblance to Sandler’s SNL born “Canteen Boy” since both concepts feature Sandler playing a stuttering simpleton whose job is to provide water to all who are thirsty. But in the film, Sandler plays Bobby Boucher Jr., a pro wrasslin lovin dumb dude so convinced his dad died of dehydration, that he's become obsessed with providing people water. As waterboy for the lowly South-Central Louisiana State University, Bobby gets bullied by the players until one makes the mistake of talking about him mom. Bobby lays him out, knocks him out, and suddenly Bobby's not the waterboy anymore. He's the star outside linebacker bringing the Mud Dogs to national prominence. While it's a sports comedy, The Waterboy will definitely make you thirsty! Mostly the parts that feature Sandler’s love interest, Vicki Vallencourt. Played by Fairuza Balk, Vicki is a rough-around-the-edges multiple felon who, for whatever reason, finds Bobby completely irresistible, even before he's a football phenom. You’ll find Vicki irresistible when you see her perfectly perky pokies poking through a tight white tank top. We'd sure like to get sticky with Vicki! In the movie, Bobby will insist that water doesn’t suck, but fans were hoping that Vicki did! The film also features Kathy Bates, Henry Winkler, and the full cast of Sandler regulars. In fact, it was the first appearance of Rob Schneider’s oft-repeated phrase “You can do it!” You’ll really be wanting to do it, with Fairuza Balk, watching The Waterboy!.
