Spider-Man (2002) spins the tale of everyone's favorite web-flinging nerdlinger, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), who gets chomped on by a genetically whacked arachnid and ends up scaling walls in a balls-clinging unitard. Poor Pete can't compete with the other kids at school—he's the king of uncool, living with his dusty old Uncle Ben and Aunt May and pining the days away for gorgeous ginger-next-door Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Then his creepy-crawly puberty begins, and Pete grows a pair . . . of web shooters! Suddenly his vision is 20/20, he's got muscles aplenty, and he's using his new tough-guy strength to make some green in a local wrestling ring. But when bad things happen to good Uncle Ben, Pete has to come to terms with the responsibilities that come with being so super. Also part of the deal, as per usual, is an enemy—namely Willem Dafoe as the out-of-his-noggin Green Goblin. Spider-Man boasts one of the most Marvel-ous moments of super-snoobage in comic-adaptation history: Check out Kirsten's henchmen standing at attention beneath her sopping-wet blouse! POW! POW!
