Lingua Franca (2020)

As the increasingly diverse times in which we live expose us to new voices and new stories, it's nice to get a look at the transgender experience in America. As something most of us have no exposure to, it's good to see films like Lingua Franca (2019) bring us new stories. Real life transgender actress Isabel Sandoval stars as Olivia, a transgender Filipino woman caring for elderly Russian woman Olga (Lynn Cohen) in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn. Desperate to stay in America, Olivia agrees to marry Olga's grandson Alex (Eamon Farren) in exchange for a marriage green card that will afford her the path to citizenship she desperately craves. At first, Alex seems like another lost cause to the system, the forever on probation sort who sees no real reason to get out of this vicious cycle of life, but through Olivia, he begins to see the value in life. What once seemed like a pipe dream to both of them now seems not only tangible, but well within their grasp. There's also a skinsational angle to the film that you won't want to miss! 43 minutes into the flick, Isabel Sandoval's Olivia consummates her relationship with Alex, attempting to take off her slip as they make out! He eventually rips it off, exposing her breasts, as he begins to go down on her! Something tells us he's about to give her nether regions the old Lingua Franca treatment if you catch our drift! Or something to that effect!
