Licorice Pizza (2021)

For his ninth feature film, Paul Thomas Anderson delivered one of his most fun films with Licorice Pizza (2021)! Cooper Hoffman, son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, stars as Gary Valentine, a wise beyond his years teenager who works as a child actor but has many aspirations for bigger and better things in his life. His world is rocked when he meets Alana Kane (Alana Haim), an aimless 25 year old who seems immune to Gary's charms, but slowly finds herself falling for him despite their age gap. Together, the two navigate the world of the early 70s San Fernando Valley, starting up a waterbed business that eventually brings them to the home of hairdresser turned movie producer John Peters (a never better Bradley Cooper). Before long, Gary abandons his plans to sell waterbeds and looks to capitalize on the pinball craze set to sweep California when the gaming machines are once again legalized. Through it all, Gary and Alana have a will they/won't they kind of attraction burgeoning, with PTA mining the spirit of a hang out movie that serves as a love letter to his adopted home. Alana Haim not only garnered rave reviews for her first starring movie role, but she spends a significant portion of the film braless and nipping out in some flimsy shirts! She also parades through the middle of the film in a period appropriate bikini that will rock your world as well! We're still not sure about the concept of Licorice Pizza, but Alana will please your licorice whip!
