Fool's Paradise (2023)

A mute patient with the mind of a child (Charlie Day, who also wrote and directed the film) gets unceremoniously evicted from a psychiatric ward and left wandering the streets of Los Angeles. He’s discovered by a producer (Ray Liotta), who takes him to the studio filming a movie called Billy the Kid. It turns out he’s a dead ringer for the uncooperative star of said film (also played by Day) and Liotta plans to pass off the mute as a stand in. Renamed Latte Pronto, the stranger gets taken in by Ken Jeong’s wannabe publicist Lenny and becomes famous, marries Kate Beckinsale, and rubs elbows with other exhausting Hollywood types like Adrien Brody as bad boy actor Chad and Jason Bateman as a special effects tech. Alanna Ubach rolls around in a loose-fitting nightie as his costar during a sex scene he tries desperately to avoid, so instead the filmmakers have her bang a masked man while he watches.
