Caravaggio's Shadow (2022)

After more than fifty years, filmmaker Michele Placido has finally delivered his version of the story of Michelangelo Merisi aka Caravaggio, Rome’s revolutionary artist of the 17th century to the screen. Riccardo Scarmarcio stars as the man himself, who was known for using prostitutes and other unsavories as models and painting them as religious figures. This brings the ire of the Church upon him which is further exacerbated when he finds himself suspected of murder, forcing him to seek refuge in Naples with the help of the Marquise Costanza Colonna (Isabelle Huppert), who at one point appears to be masturbating while thinking about having sex with him. The film creates a character known as The Shadow (Louis Garrel), a Vatican emmissary tasked with investigating the life of the painter. Lolita Chammah appears as Anne Bianchini, a prostitute and model who gives him a handjob during a party until he notices the whip marks on her back and tends to them. We later see her full frontal with a pregnant belly after her dead body is pulled from a river. Micaela Ramazzotti plays Lena, Caravaggio’s love who he often depicted as the Virgin Mary, and who’s heavenly honkers we see through her wet top as she and the artist take a bath together. Plus there’s a skintastic orgy scene with tons of boobs, butt, and bush, including some right breast from Anna Gargano as she gets boned from behind by him. It’ll inspire you paint your own walls!
