Body Brokers (2021)

If you're inclined to think that the drug rehabilitation industry is nothing but a massive money making scheme that keeps addicts forever in the clutches of a major corporation, you might be on to something. At least, according to the flick Body Brokers (2021), you're absolutely on the right track! Utah (Val's son Jack Kilmer) and Opal (Alice Englert) are two junkies living on the streets of Los Angeles when they make the acquaintance of Wood (Michael Kenneth Williams) a recovering addict who extolls the virtues of a rehab facility that changed his life. With the help of a seemingly sympathetic psychiatrist (Melissa Leo) and her assistant (Jessica Rothe), Utah soon finds himself on the road to recovery. Enter Wood's partner in crime Vin (Frank Grillo) who takes Utah under his wing and begins to show him the actual business side of the rehab facility, which stays in business by enlisting "reformed" addicts to recruit new addicts in a never-ending cycle of indentured servitude. Can one man, a recovering addict at that, actually bring down this corrupt system by exposing it to the harsh light of day, or is he just the latest cog in a wheel that never stops turning? While it is a rollicking good time, sadly this flick is completely devoid of nudity. Just nine minutes in, we get a peek down Alice Englert's tank top as she bends down after servicing a john in a motel room, but she's wearing a bra and we can't see anything. Too bad this movie is more focused on the Broker part of its title and not enough on the Body!
